Mike Cucuzza joined the Innovative Roofing Group in January of 2016 as the Service Department Manager. Under Mike’s leadership, the department has been transformed into a market-leading, problem-solving partner for many of the largest CRE industry players in North Georgia. The Service Department has become a source of pride and differentiation at IRG and growth has been exponential. In 2018, Mike received a well-deserved promotion to Vice President at Innovative Roofing Group.
How did you get into the Roofing industry?
I was introduced to the industry by a great of friend mine and fellow industry member, Michael Laird, who said he had an “opportunity that I couldn’t pass up”. I started as a repair foreman working in a one-truck service department covering the entire state of Georgia. My first day on the job I worked 18hrs and went as far south as Dothan, AL. I cussed Mike a few times that day and questioned my decision to be a roofer but it was a great learning experience that started my career in roofing. I never looked back.
Describe your role at Innovative Roofing Group?
I oversee our Service Division and work closely with our sales force to estimate and sell complicated repair scopes. I also support the company’s business development, estimating and project management efforts with select and targeted customers.
What do you like most about your job?
My greatest satisfaction in my work comes from earning the trust of a customer. By solving their problems, I am able to watch small opportunities blossom into a devoted customer/roofer relationship.
What is your favorite memory of working at Innovative Roofing Group?
The end of my first year at IRG was definitely a highlight. It was great to look back on the progress we made and the growth we achieved as a service department due to the hard work of the team. It’s been an honor to lead them!
Tell us about your family
I’ve been in a long-term relationship with my girlfriend Rachel for 7½ years and have a wonderful son Jack who’s 3½ years old. My crazy mom lives in Marietta and my brother Kevin is in the roofing industry living in Denver, Colorado.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to spend time with my son. It’s great to watch him learn and to see his personality continue to evolve. He never ceases to amaze me. A couple of times a year I love to go deep-sea fishing and spend time on the water. I also don’t shy away from the occasional visit to Cherokee.
What is your favorite sports team?
I’m a hometown guy. I grew up a Braves fan and have come to love the Falcons. I follow the Hawks but I’m not a huge NBA person. The one that throws most people off is my love for the GATORS! Growing up in Florida I became a huge fan and when I moved to Georgia I was definitely in the minority. ORANGE……BLUE!!! GO GATORS!!!!
